We are delighted to announce that the 2010 Jan Lee Prize for Analysis and the Arts has been awarded to Judith Edwards for her paper, ‘Teaching and learning about psychoanalysis: Film as a teaching tool, with reference to a particular film, Morvern Callar’, which was published in the British Journal of Psychotherapy, volume 26, issue 1 (February 2010).
The awarding committee thought this was an excellent paper which not only gave a powerful example of the use of film and a telling analysis of Morvern Callar, but also explored the use of film as a vehicle for teaching psychoanalytic concepts. The paper also gave a vivid and evocative account of the film itself.
