Dear Editor,
I would like to bring to the readers' attention the publication of the 8th volume of Ma'arag: The Israel Annual of Psychoanalysis.
Ma'arag (“weave, web, fabric” in Hebrew) is a Hebrew-language (English abstract), academically-refereed journal brought forward by a consortium of The Sigmund Freud Center for the Study of Psychoanalysis of the Hebrew University of Jerusalem and 9 of Israel's chief psychoanalytic institutes, associations and groups: The Israel Association for Self Psychology and the Study of Inter-subjectivity, The Israel Society for Analytical Psychology, The Israel Psychoanalytic Society, The Israel Association for Group Analysis, The Israel Institute of Jungian Psychology, The Tel-Aviv Institute for Contemporary Psychoanalysis, The Israel Association for Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy, The Israel Association of Psychotherapy, and The Winnicott Center in Israel. The annual is published by Magnes/The Hebrew University Press of Jerusalem. I have edited the previous 8 volumes of Ma'arag , and am succeeded by Professor Dana Amir of Tel-Aviv University and the Israel Psychoanalytic Institute. Prof. Gaby Shefler of the Hebrew University and the Israel Psychoanalytic Institute chairs the Editorial Board. Hebrew-language manuscripts are reviewed from all sectors in a completely democratic spirit, and selection criteria meet the standards of international psychoanalytic forums and literary quality. Hebrew language essays from the international audience are welcome, with the proviso that suitable translation has been arranged by the author, and is subject to editorial revision in concert with the author.
Each volume averages 300 pages of text, and an additional 50 pages comprised of lengthy English summaries (3-6 pp) of each Hebrew essay. Topic areas are both of local and world-wide interest, and have thus far addressed theoretical, research, literary-aesthetic, methodological and clinical problems.
Previous and current volumes of Ma'arag are available at
