The year 2024 will see us celebrating the 40th year of the British Journal of Psychotherapy. We are planning a ‘birthday conference’ on Saturday, 8 June 2024, which will be a hybrid event, with invited guests meeting face to face and then other friends and colleagues who can join the event online. Please do put the dates in your diary. Helen Morgan, David Black, Ann Scott and Bob Hinshelwood are among those who will be speaking on the day. We will also have a live clinical commentaries session with Katya Orrell and Konstantin Nemirovskiy, delegates will have access to the clinical material so will be able to compare their hypotheses and reflections on the data with those who are invited to speak on the day. Konstantin has now taken over from Katya as editor of the clinical commentaries section of the journal, so the conference will be a chance to meet Konstantin, and thank Katya for her excellent stewardship of the section.
This editorial also carries other important announcements. First, Poul Rohleder has handed over the role of book editor to Joe Druce, and in a guest editorial contribution below, Poul reflects on his time in the role, the challenges and opportunities for a book review editor to contribute to knowledge exchange for the profession. On behalf of the editorial board, I want to thank Poul for his contribution, and the way he has ensured the book review section has remained vibrant and engaging throughout.
Finally, there are two sad notifications about the passing of our esteemed colleagues Nathan Field and Lorraine Tollemache, with obituaries from Jackie Gerrard and Robert Tollemache, respectively.
