The authors attempt to explore an imagined family consultation, based on the referral that the parents of the ‘young homosexual woman’ presented to Freud, where the daughter caused her parents so much concern, and that gave birth to his The Psychogenesis of a Case of Homosexuality in a Woman (Freud, 1920a).
The authors show the different observational vertices unfolding in the minds of two analysts, as case material is explored in individual or in a family therapy setting, and describe the possible family configurations and the unconscious motivation that might be underlying the family consultation, and thus allow us to discern the family's suffering.
