The wide range of material for this issue is testimony to the Journal's continuing growth. Indeed, it appears to be developing increasingly an identity and a life of its own, thanks greatly to the facilitating environment provided by you, its readers. I also want to acknowledge the work of our Editorial and International Advisory Boards, without whose commitment, encouragement, and guidance no such growth would be possible. This provides a timely point to welcome the recent appointment of Catriona Wrottesley, who joins the editorial team as Book Reviews Editor. For this issue, she records a further illuminating interview in our Meeting the Author series, this time with Dr Paola Mariotti.
I am also greatly indebted to colleagues who provide the peer reviews of articles submitted for publication. In that regard, it may be helpful to use this space to say more about the review process. Each article is sent anonymously to two reviewers who assess whether or not it is acceptable and make recommendations about any necessary modifications to otherwise acceptable papers. Recently the Editorial Board agreed that it should specify the criteria to be used in assessments and devised the following:
Is the paper readable, accessible and interesting?
Does it make appropriate use of psychoanalytic theory?
Is there appropriate use of case material?
Does it make a contribution to learning about couple and/or family relationships and/or couple/family psychotherapy?
Does the paper advance the integration of couple and family psychotherapy?
The reviewers' reports are collated by the Editor who reports them, again anonymously, to the author. We hope to return feedback within four to six weeks, but holidays and unforeseen events can extend this period. With increasing submissions to the Journal, we shall require more peer reviewers. If you are interested in being involved, please let me know.
With this issue, we are pleased to present a new, rich crop of articles. Once again some happy “pairings”
