A psychoanalytic community without a journal is like a car without headlights. This is especially true of our own psychoanalytic community which is as multi-theoretical as our national community is bi-cultural and regionally multi-cultural. Psychoanalysis has always been subject to theoretical diaspora. The advancement of psychoanalytic theory is more like a winding sideroad of the Eastern Townships of Quebec or the mountains of B.C or Alberta with many turnings and some dead ends to right and left than it is like the TransCanada highway through Manitoba and Saskatchewan. It is my hope for our new journal that it will help us to continue to be open to new ideas from abroad and to contribute to each other and to the world analytic community the results of our own specifically Canadian tendency to integrate and test as well as innovate.
