In response to wide interest in the relationship between film and psychoanalysis, the Canadian Journal of Psychoanalysis will be publishing a special section on film in each new issue, starting this fall. Students of film and students of psychoanalysis, regardless of their academic or professional backgrounds, are invited to submit papers. We encourage contributors to consider not only how psychoanalysis may increase our understanding and appreciation of film, but also how film and film culture may enhance and deepen psychoanalytic knowledge. We hope that “Elective Affinities” will transcend the conventional paradigm of “applied psychoanalysis” and evolve into a celebration of the mutual attractions of psychoanalysis and the cinema.
Manuscripts may be submitted in either English or French and will be published in the language of submission. They should normally be 7000 words or less, including summary, notes, and reference list. Brief, well-focused manuscripts will be much appreciated.
Send three copies to Charles Levin, “Elective Affinities,” Canadian Journal of Psychoanalysis, 7000 Côte des Neiges, Montreal, QC H3S 2C1.
