Theodore Jacobs invited an international panel of analysts from diverse theoretical backgrounds to discuss and debate clinical and theoretical convergence and divergence in the core of the analytic process. He asked whether there is a fundamental shared core of psychoanalytic theory and technique, or whether differences between psychoanalytic cultures and approaches mitigate against a common, conceptual, and/or technical core.
