In this paper I consider gradations of vitality of the aesthetic conflict in relation to envy in terms of space, time, and the emotional temperature aroused. In each of these dimensions I describe the processes that have bearing on how encounters with the object world are allowed to live and grow through learning from experience or how they become foreclosed by the destructive forces of envy.

Dans cet article, je réfléchis aux degrés de vitalité du conflit esthétique relativement à l'envie sur les plans de l'espace, du temps et du climat affectif. Dans chacune de ces dimensions, je décris les processus qui permettent aux rencontres avec le monde objectif de s'épanouir grâce à l'apprentissage par l'expérience, ou qui les entravent en les livrant aux forces destructrices de l'envie
