We are delighted to have this occasion to mark the 25th anniversary of the Canadian Journal of Psychoanalysis/Revue canadienne de psychanalyse (CJP/RCP). Organized psychoanalysis in Canada has been thriving for about 70 years, and this publication has reflected that prosperity for the past quarter century. We hope that we have succeeded in continuing the tradition of excellence that began in 1993 with our founding editor, Eva Lester. The mandate we inherited from her is to provide a bilingual publication answering to the scientific and professional needs of both the French and English communities of the Canadian Psychoanalytic Society.
It may be of interest to recall that the inspiration for the creation of CJP/RCP came from two distinguished senior members of the French and English analytic communities, Paul Lefebvre and Clifford Scott. After Eva Lester's retirement, Donald Carveth, followed by Brian Robertson, served ably as editors-in-chief. Charles Levin's first issue as editor was a special number in memory of Eva Lester in 2009. Josette Garon joined him as associate editor in 2011, creating the first continuous joint French/English editorship in the history of the journal. We are proud of this accomplishment and we hope the tradition of close inter-linguistic cooperation continues.
