In this paper I have tried, by means which include the verbatim quotation of a recorded extract from a psychoanalytic session, to show that a "here and now" approach, without reference to the patient's past, overcomes objections which are commonly brought against the possibility of using the psychoanalytic session as an experimental situation in which hypotheses about human behavior can be tested.
