To The Editor:
In my discussion of the paper, "Harry Stack Sullivan, The Web and the Spider", by Edgar A. Levenson, M.D. (Contemporary Psychoanalysis, Vol. 20, No. 2), I referred to Dr. Levenson's claim that Sullivan "recanted on" his original thesis, and offered evidence and considerations in support of my dissenting view.
The term "recanted" appears in the original copy on which I based my discussion, and was used by Dr. Levenson in his presentation at the Symposium of November 5–6, 1983. In the published version it is replaced by the word "repredicted" (p. 174), which I understand is a mis-typing of "repudiated". Since the original word, "recanted" was that to which I addressed my response, I write to bring this to the attention of your readers.
