Getting Beyond the Sexual Abuse Binary: Discerning Sexual Agency from Sexual Coercion. Sex Positivity in the Time of #MeToo

Meg S. Kaplan, Ph.D., a clinical psychologist, is currently the director of the Sexual Behavior Clinic at the New York State Psychiatric Institute, and an associate professor of clinical psychology in psychiatry at Columbia University, College of Physicians and Surgeons. She received her Ph.D. in human sexuality from New York University in 1984 and has conducted clinical research in psychosexual disorders since then, publishing over 70 articles in this field. Dr. Kaplan was on the National Board of the Association for the Treatment of Sexual Abusers and is currently on the New York State Board. She is the chairperson of the Special Classification Review Board at Avenel Correctional Facility in New Jersey. Early in her career, she worked as a parole officer for the State of New York for 10 years.
