These talks, given in April 1977 under the auspices of the Institute for Psychoanalytic Training and Research (I.P.T.A.R.), took place on five consecutive evenings. There were two groups of participants; one attended talks One, Three and Five; the other, Two and Four. Although some roughnesses and repetitions, inevitable in impromptu expression, have been deleted it is hoped that the printed record is not misleading. A few passages have been added subsequently; these are marked { }.
