In arithmetic the statement, 2 + 3 = 5, expresses a relationship between specific numbers.
The statement, ‘Two apples and three plums = five fruit’, expresses a relationship between specific objects in a specific emotional field – a ‘cultural’ field in which it is agreed that apples and plums are accepted as possessing sufficient ‘fruitiness’ to qualify as ‘fruit’.
In algebra the statement that a + b = b + a, will apply to any numbers. Any number, ‘a’, and any number, ‘b’, will together make the same result as ‘b + a’.
In this way the number may be seen to proceed from:
. . + xxx = sssss → 2 + 3 = 5 (any objects) → (a + b) = (b + a).
But is this reversible?
Father + Mother + Infant = Oedipus complex (any F + M + I)
Which is the ‘idée mère’? Idée mère ↔ Messianic idea ↔ Any idea. Who owns it? Judgement of Solomon: whoever is to preserve the survival and development → growth (non-cancerous) of idea = the Owner.
