If avoidance of pain was an adequate response, there would be nothing further. As always, there is ‘something further’ even when the solution is adequate. Greed must contribute to the course of ‘something further’. Probably it is a part of mental pain. Mental pain presents a problem because, unlike sensuous pain, it cannot be satisfactorily located. The intensity is not always in proportion to its significance in accordance with a known vertex.
