Welcome again to the latest issue of Free Associations journal. In this batch of contributors never was the authorial voice less well-hidden. The new issue leads off with Jerry Piven's interrogations of the meaning of death in Ernest Becker's unsparing and renowned work. Judith Hughes follows with judicious considerations of the comparative merits of our rivalrous theories in the consulting room. Danny Schechter returns with another fascinating (and deeply affecting) Jungian probe into his clients and self as well as testing the limits of sight and insight: “Depths, depths, Go to the depths.” Then Andrea Sabbadini provides a careful commentary on what one might deem the issue of gender in these tumultuous times. Tim Smith entrancingly recounts a restorative journey, as much psychical as physical, to Cuba and what really ensues. Finally, Reuven Walleck manages to trip up the glorious AI hype parade with a few simple but profound Freudian reckonings on what would constitute the true consciousness supposedly being sought.
