The third year for the Sacramento Valley Education Committee has continued to be a period of growth and development. We are happy to report that our 2003 Fall Event—which featured Jessica Benjamin's presentation, Beyond Doer and Done To: Resolving Impasses and Working with the Intersubjective Third—provided a very stimulating day for an enthusiastic audience. Our annual 2004 Spring Event featured Peter Goldberg, whose presentation, Dissociation in Everyday Clinical Practice, was also well received and well attended. Audience participation was informed and exuberant for both events.
We launched a new lecture series entitled Contemporary Issues in Psychoanalysis, which covered a variety of topics of interest to the practicing clinician. The first lecture was How to Find the Sex in Psychosexuality: Erotic Transference and the Sexual Body, presented by Dianne Elise; the second was called The Subjugation of the Body in Eating Disorders: A Particularly Female Solution, presented by Susan Sands; and the third and final in the series was Dr. Melfi's Knee: Tracing the Theme of Sexuality in the Depiction of Female Therapists, presented by Laurel Samuels. The series, offered on Saturday mornings, was very popular and very well attended.

An important goal for the coming year is to develop new approaches for outreach, especially to graduate students and interns.
We are very excited about our 2004 Fall Event, featuring James Fosshage, who will be giving a presentation called Dreams in Clinical Practice: A Contemporary Psychoanalytic Model on Friday and Saturday, October 8th & 9th, 2004, in Sacramento at the Sierra Health Foundation. We are also very pleased to offer, for the second year, our lecture series, Contemporary Issue
