The Associate Member Committee focuses on making the study and practice of psychoanalytic psychology accessible to Bay Area students. In the 2003-2004 academic year, we brought NCSPP-affiliated psychotherapists and psychoanalysts to local graduate schools for a free series of Speakers’ Bureau programs. Speakers addressed topics such as practicing analytically in diverse settings and psychoanalytic technique and personal expression. Our thanks to these presenters for their participation and their generosity. This past year, we brought the following speakers to the Wright Institute and the California Institute of Integral Studies: Paul Alexander, Peter Carnochan, Shawnee Cuzzillo, Ralph Kaywin, Eileen Keller, Elizabeth Lloyd Mayer, Maureen Murphy, and Emily Seidel.
In the spring, the Associate Member Committee put on a special colloquium and reception for Associate Members and students titled “The Psychoanalytic Encounter.” Dianne Elise and Deanna Reardon gave a lively and engaging presentation. Sharing clinical material and commentary with an audience of interested students and Associate Members, they brought psychoanalytic theory to life, effectively demonstrating what it is like to work as a psychoanalytic psychotherapist. In the works for Spring 2005 is a new lecture series for Associates and students.
Most importantly, great thanks for their time and effort go out to the committee members, who are: Amy Bandera, Rachel Brooks, Caroline Date, Boukje Eerkens, and Kristin Felch.
