The Membership Committee is dedicated to expanding the base of NCSPP members through outreach and informal marketing, which includes networking with non-member attendees at NCSPP events. We also produce the annual NCSPP Membership Directory, a valuable resource for the community. We are continually alert to new opportunities to help serve our members’ needs. To this end, we birthed the following two new subcommittees:
In the Spring of 2005, we launched a Marin presence for NCSPP under the guidance of the Marin Subcommittee, and celebrated this event with a well-attended gala wine and cheese party in San Rafael. To expand NCSPP's activity in Marin, we began the Sausalito Salon Series this fall, where distinguished analysts, in a home setting complete with libation and refreshments, present analytic topics to a small, intimate group and enjoy an interactive discussion. Robert Waska, Karen Peoples, and Stephen Ducat are scheduled to present. Other planned programs for 2005 include special events and short seminars to be held in Marin. We will announce the salon presentations as well as the special events and seminars in our new online newsletter, IMPULSE. Members of this subcommittee are Tracy Schmidt, Boukje Eerkens, and Andy Harlem.
The Membership Committee also launched another smaller group, the e-Subcommittee, to increase membership and unite NCSPP with the larger psychoanalytic community through technology. This subcommittee launched NCSPP's online newsletter, IMPULSE, in September 2005 to provide a timely digest of analytic information and events in northern California and to connect with other psychoanalytic organizations. IMPULSE carries a short message from various agencies and institutes on a rotating basis, a bulletin board for classifieds, and an events listing column. We will produce and email IMPULSE on a monthly basis to all NCSPP members, as well as to a large number of members of other psychoanalytic organizations. Members of the e-Subcommittee are Brad
