I am pleased to report that NCSPP did extremely well this past year, ending with a net profit of more than $50,000. This is especially noteworthy since we had a significant loss the previous year. As the saying goes, it takes a village, and our village came through big-time in turning our finances around.
Thanks to the diligent efforts of the Executive Committee, Board Members, and Committee Members, we came up with a budget that was less dependent on the ISGs to carry all the financial weight. As we know, when our ISGs do well, our finances do well, and unfortunately the reverse is also true. Everyone on the Board worked hard to reduce costs and make more efficient use of resources, especially the website, so that the budget was not so affected by the ups and downs of the ISGs. At the same time, our programs were very successful this year, thanks to wonderful events organized by our ISG Committees and the incredible talent of our teachers. This gave us a nice income cushion.
A major achievement in reducing costs was the development of the “Members Only” area of our website. Not only does this help our membership connect to one another more easily (and give instant access to past issues of fort da), it also significantly reduces the large cost of mailing printed membership directories. We also instituted the use of PayPal to make payments for events, membership dues, and donations easier.
Looking ahead, we are focusing more on bringing in students and new clinicians to keep our membership healthy and vibrant. Keep on the lookout for information regarding mentorship programs, graduate school outreach, and student subsidies-just some of the plans underway for the near future.
