Out of our (and all of NCSPP's) growing direction toward connecting members in more social, informal, and personal contexts, the Membership Committee has spawned a brand new committee for NCSPP: The Community Events Committee. Conceived as a group that will focus on innovating and implementing social and networking experiences for members, this committee will seek to complement NCSPP's educational offerings. Its formation comes out of the success of our Spring Welcome Dinners, held the week before the past two Annual Lectures, as well as the enjoyment members have expressed after attending the annual holiday party and Kick-Off Picnic. Much as our work as analytic clinicians is rich and rewarding, it can also be isolating by nature, so we hope NCSPP can help members form meaningful personal connections and feel part of a community of like-minded colleagues and friends.
We are thrilled to welcome Milena Edwards back to the Board as chair of the Community Events Committee. Dr. Edwards's tenure as chair of the Prelicensed Clinicians Committee (previously called Student Members Committee) was nothing short of revolutionary for the organization, enriching and deepening NCSPP's offerings as a home for clinicians in training. We look forward to seeing her leadership, vision, and creativity applied to community events for members!
Keeping the wheels turning of the Membership Committee are Carrie Evenden, Michelle Baker, and myself as chair. We've enjoyed attending NCSPP events to register new members, as well as making calls to welcome new members and remind expiring members. We're proud to serve the engaged, passionate, and dedicated group of psychoanalytic clinicians and interested others who make up the membership of NCSPP.
