This year we warmly welcomed one new committee member, Annice Ormiston, and one new co-chair, Lani Chow, who bring fresh perspectives to an already wonderfully active and connected group.
One of my highlights of the year was the elegant NCSPP Holiday Party we hosted at 2009 year's end. Each December, this party proves to be an excellently attended, festive, purely social celebration of people sharing experiences outside private practice offices and workplaces. This year did not disappoint.
Post-celebration, we delved into serious thought with the 2010 Spring Scientific Meeting, “Conceptualizing Conception: Hope, Despair, and Assisted Reproductive Technology,” which examined the clinical implications of working with individuals and couples involved with Assisted Reproductive Technology. Adam Kremen and Diane Ehrensaft presented papers, while Maureen Murphy and Tamara McClintock Greenberg discussed the papers and engaged the audience in a generative conversation.
The 22nd Annual Event and Lecture, “Partners in Thought: Unformulated Experience, Dissociation, and Enactment,” welcomed Dr. Donnel Stern from New York City. Though this new format presented some challenges, the overall feedback was positive, and we intend to further develop it for the Annual Lecture 2011.
We are excited about our Fall Scientific Meeting with Enid Young and Jeffrey Eaton on Saturday, October 16th. They will present their paper, “Beyond Alpha to Sigma: The Intuitive Function in Bion's Psychoanalysis.” On Saturday, October 23rd, at the Brower Center in Berkeley, NCSPP will co-sponsor our 3rd Annual Couple Psychotherapy Even
