NCSPP's html newsletter Impulse brings our local psychoanalytic scene to over 1800 subscribers' inboxes on the first of every month, running different features in order to capture a wide variety of content for our readers. Appointment Book, edited by Terra Morais, allows readers to peruse all the psychoanalytic events in Northern California happening for that month. Piece of Mind provides psychoanalytic organizations and programs with space to introduce (or to reintroduce) themselves and to familiarize readers with their missions. Event Spotlight lets organizations highlight an upcoming event in depth. Meg Earls edits both of these features. Potential Space showcases articles from our staff writers and is edited by our newest committee member, Adam Blum. This year, staff writer Mark McKinley wrote on the challenges of finding a psychoanalytic internship and reported on SFCP's Scientific Meeting on Masud Khan. Jane Reingold reported on a paper given by Barbara Sullivan at the Jung Institute, as well as John Fletcher's talk on Freud and screen memories. Elizabeth Bradshaw covered Neil Talkoff's discussion of Lars and the Real Girl at NCSPP's Prelicensed Clinicians Committee's movie night. Lorrie Goldin wrote psychoanalytically informed cultural critiques of the Oscars and Wikileaks. Speaking of culture, when psychoanalysis shows up in the media, editor Blair Davis compiles the best of them for the feature Psychoanalysis in the News. Our readers stay in touch with NCSPP through two features, the quarterly published President's Remarks and our newest feature, NCSPP's Corner. With so many features, Impulse needs a separate person just to keep everything on track. This person would be Shlomit Gorin, who took over the reins as managing editor this past year. Michele McGuinness manages the production side of things as she programs the newsletter in html and ensures its distribution.
