In January of this year I was thrilled to take on the challenge of chairing NCSPP's Membership Committee. I consider myself very fortunate that the previous Chair, Cate Corcoran, decided to remain on the committee as a member. Her familiarity with membership issues and her insightful contributions have smoothed my transition into this position and afforded me and the rest of the committee a sense of continuity and history that have helped shape the important work we do for our membership.
NCSPP has been trying to find ways to provide a sense of community — a “professional home” — for clinicians passionate about psychoanalytic ideas. To that end, this committee has continued to make monthly calls, both to our new members to welcome them and to remind our lapsed members how much their membership is valued. We've also enjoyed attending many events this year where we have welcomed our current members, encouraged attendees to join NCSPP, and offered information and answered questions about membership and the organization. We're excited to administer a new NCSPP member benefit in its pilot year: one pro bono consultation per year with a participating senior NCSPP clinician (see in the “members services” area for more details). The feedback from those consultees and consultants we have paired has been very positive and enthusiastic. We look forward to connecting more of our members, hearing about their experiences, and finding ways to make this newest member benefit as rewarding and useful as possible.
I wouldn't be able to do any of this if it weren't for the hardworking, gracious, thoughtful, and spirited group of volunteers who have worked with me since January. In addition to Dr. Corcoran, Carrie Evendon also decided to stay on and continue providing her time. In January, Catherine Ferreira-Babor, Charmaine Ehrhart, and Aggie Quinn joined our committee and have generously contributed their time and enthusiasm. We all look forward to serving NCSPP's membersh
