This has been a very exciting year for the Pre-Licensed Committee. Not only have we continued to bring the traditional programming that you know and love, but the committee has also rolled out some new events this year that have been very well received.
During the past year, our events have reflected our goal to provide a supportive community and professional development for pre-licensed clinicians, along with our mission to understand how psychoanalytic thought can be used to impact social and political structure. We were excited to have Salons in which we interviewed Bryant Welch and Mahima Muralidharan. We were also pleased to have Francisco Gonzalez and Dawn Farber serve as discussants for our Movie Matinee series. The PLC collaborated with PINC to host four outreach events in local graduate programs in which students were paired with discussants from PINC for a clinical case presentation, and we also hosted two happy hour gatherings. We have had enthusiastic attendance for all of our events.
This year, the committee organized its first Early Career Panel in which four panelists — including Loong Kwok, Michael Donnell, Annice Ormiston, and Tiffany McLain — presented on the topic of life after graduation. Attendees requested more programming along these lines. The PLC also hosted a reading series over the summer months, which paired seminal analytic works with Ogden's essays from his book Creative Readings.
I have been inspired by the creative programming of this committee and I would like to thank hard-working committee members Stéphanie Gay-Moss, Loong Kwok, Jeremy Mintz, Mia Eve, Willow Banks, Joseph Zamaria, Jason Butler, and Daniel Butler for all their contributions.
