Each year the pre-licensed committee hosts a number of events aimed at supporting the cultivation of community, professional development, and intellectual interests of graduate students and early-career clinicians. This year we continued our efforts to understand the relevance that psychoanalytic thought and practice has in relation to social and political structures and expanded our programing to include collaboration with the C.G. Jung Institute of San Francisco.
Our Fall Salon with Jungian analyst John Beebe highlighted the many points of convergence between Jungian and Freudian derivatives of psychoanalysis, challenging the unnecessary separation of these two systems of thought and practice. Our Spring Salon with Rachael Peltz touched on the important interface between cultural history, the political psyche, and socially engaged psychoanalysis. We were also pleased to have Julie Leavitt and Stephen Hartman serve as discussants for our Movie Matinee series.
The PLC collaborated with PINC to host four outreach events at various clinics in the East Bay and San Francisco. These events paired interns at the Pacific Center, Haight Ashbury Psychological Services, the Psychological Services Center of CSPP and CIIS, and the Wright Institute with discussants from PINC for a clinical case presentation.
The committee also organized its second Early Career Panel, hosted at CIIS, in which the committee members facilitated dialogue around marketing a private practice, publishing and presenting at conferences, clinical specialization, and finding community.
And to top off these thought-provoking events, we hosted two happy hour gatherings, which were filled with many delightful conversations and a rich sense of community.
I have been inspired by the creative programming of this committee, and I would like to thank hard-working committee members Stéphanie Gay-Moss, Loong Kwok, Jeremy Mintz, Mia Maturen, Willow Banks, Joseph Zamaria, Daniel Butler, Jessica McLachlan, and Sydney Tan fo
