Each year the Pre-Licensed Clinicians Committee (PLC) hosts a number of events aimed at supporting the cultivation of community, professional development, and intellectual interests of graduate students and early career clinicians. This year we continued our efforts to understand the points of confluence between psychoanalytic thought and practice and social justice issues.
At our Spring Salon, psychologist Diane Ehrensaft highlighted a nuanced
and beautifully attuned perspective on gender variance in children. She shared stories from her rich experience working with children and their parents on issues related to gender.
The PLC collaborated with the Psychoanalytic Institute of Northern California (PINC) to host three outreach events at various clinics in the East Bay and San Francisco. These events paired interns at The Women's Therapy Center, The C.G. Jung Institute of San Francisco, and the Psychological Services Center of Alliant University with discussants from PINC for a clinical case presentation.
To top off these thought-provoking events, we hosted two happy hour gatherings, which were filled with many delightful conversations that enriched our sense of community.
I have been inspired by the creative programming of this committee, and I would like to thank hard-working committee members Stephanie Gay-Moss, Willow Banks, Daniel Butler, Jessica McLachlan, Sydney Tan, Evan Sola, Tanisha Stewart, Jenna Roat, and Diego Kusnir for all of their vital contributions.
