To continue creating and maintaining spaces and support for psychodynamic thinking for clinicians working in community mental health settings, the Community Mental Health (CMH) committee offers community building and provides access to high-quality professional development, including support programming. This past fall, the inaugural CMH Hike was launched in San Francisco. Immediate feedback voiced interest in continued outings. However, due to COVID-19, all the spring outings had to be canceled, which affected not only the hike but a reading group aligning with the Annual Lecture featuring David Eng. To provide suitable outings for CMH clinicians, the committee sponsored a virtual tour with the Jewish Contemporary Museum and a virtual yoga class.
In the coming fall, further adjustments in programming will be made to continue social distancing. A clinical consultation group for employees of county-funded and non-profit agencies will continue virtually from October 2020 to May 2021. The postponed David Eng event will be held in the fall, with a virtual CMH reading group held in tandem. In the spring, the CMH committee hopes to resume live events if it is safe to do so, which will include an East Bay hike, a museum event, and a reading group. Many thanks to the committee members for all their work and dedication. Geetali Chitre and Andrea Chan will remain; leaving us this year are Suresh Chacko and Bryce Bridge. We look forward to working together in supporting those in community mental health settings.
