The Community Mental Health Committee is committed to creating events that promote networking and community building among those working in non-profit, community-based, or government-funded agencies. Within budget and time constraints, events aim to provide space for psychoanalytic thinking with historically marginalized populations, while also creating time for networking and support.
This past year, the committee has continued with annual reading groups and hikes. Inclement weather prevailed again this year, pushing the fall hike to the spring, where clinicians met others to enjoy Lake Temescal. The inaugural Board Game Day took place in the fall. The committee also organized its first-ever CE course on school shootings, which was well-received.
We look forward to seeing more clinicians at next year's events. In addition to reading groups, hikes, and community functions, the Community Mental Health Committee is continuing to provide training on topics relevant to those working in these settings. None of these functions would have been possible without the involvement of Geetali Chitre, Psy.D., and Hoa My Ngyuen, LCSW. We wish our former committee members, Halleli Toder, Psy.D., and Dana Pomerantz, M.A., well in their next endeavors. Their energy and ideas were valuable contributions to the CMH committee.
Rebekah Tinker, LCSW, and Niki Clay, Co-Chairs
