This essay examines the implications of a relational and radical constructivist perspective in understanding the experience of gender, body and desire. Relational, feminist and postmodern theories of gender and body ego are reviewed to develop an argument that experiences of gender and desire emerge from mutually regulated and coconstructed experiences and these coconstructions are reproduced in the transference—countertransference matrix. Case material is introduced to illuminate these themes.
