This work is an account of one man's search for God in modern times, Fernando Pessoa, Portugal's major twentieth-century writer. Through the use of psychoanalysis, the writer's most autobiographical work, Livro do Desassossego, or The Book of Disquietude, is examined as a venue where the psychological implications of the disavowal of God emerges in the text.
