Explicit and Hidden Objectives of the Process of Training Psychoanalysts. A Panel discussion held at the VII Scientific conference of IFPS in Munich, August 23, 1992.
Moderators: Carola Mann, USA, Raul Schindler, Austria. Participants: Romulo Aguillaume, Spain; Gion Gondrau, Switzerland; José Durval de Albuquerque, Brazil; Joan Freyberg, USA; Kari K. Holm, Norway; Irja Ikonen, Finland; Jan Stensson, Sweden; Virginia Gilberti Tincolini, Italy.
This presentation contains six of the panel statements, in some cases slightly modified. Representing experiences from widely different social and cultural backgrounds and psychoanalytic traditions, they discuss problems in the training of psychoanalysts from a number of different perspectives.
As the training of psychoanalysts will be a major determinant in the future development of psychoanalysis, we welcome our readers to continue an exchange of ideas on this subject. Candidates in training, newly graduated analysts, training analysts, faculty members etc. will have much to contribute to this shaping of a creative space for new psychoanalysts in a new millenium.
