Under this title it is our intention to publish short reports from other fields which we think may stimulate psychoanalysts to new, creative ideas. These short glimpses may also give an impetus to seeing how compatible our psychoanalytic theories are with findings in other sciences. Our readers are invited to send us specimens from their reading, which they think may be of interest for their psychoanalytic colleagues in this regard.
As a start, we have the pleasure to give an insight into an international Wenner-Gren Symposium on “The Neurobiology of Infant-Parent Interaction in the Newborn”, published as Supplement 397 to Acta Paediatrica, vol. 83, June 1994. We have chosen to republish the introduction written by the editors of this supplement, Ingemar Kjellmer and Jan Winberg, and the abstracts of six of the contributors to the symposium. We thank them as well as Rolf Zetterström, the Editor-in-chief of Acta Paediatrica, for their kind permission to make this presentation.
