Current views on psychoanalytic technique. A panel discussion held at the IX International Forum of Psychoanalysis of IFPS in Florence, May 12 1994.
Moderators: V. Giliberti Tincolini and Arne Jemstedt. Participants: P.L. Eletti, Italy, L. Igra, Sweden, J. Kemper, Brazil, M. Lionells, USA and G. Medri, Italy.
This presentation contains four of the five introductary statements made by the panelists. While three of the panelists, Igra, Kemper and Medri, express views on technique mainly based on psychoanalysis as a method for intra-psychic change, Lionells elucidates a dramatic change in the USA from a one-person to a two-person model. Taken together these presentations cover a wide range of the tensions in both theoretical and practical outlook in the psychoanalytic field today.
