The author describes the use of the two-page paper task, a recurrent simple writing task for candidates to express their integration of learning after each semester of psychoanalytic education. Seven rising third-year candidates share their papers in full so that readers can assess the value of the task as a measure of the candidates’ integration of theory and technique and development of analytic sensibility and identity at the mid-point of their training.
