We are inviting submissions for the first INTERDISCIPLINARY PSYCHOANALYSIS AND PRE-K-12 EDUCATION AWARD.
This award is co-sponsored by the American Psychoanalytic Association (APsaA), the International Journal of Applied Psychoanalytic Studies (IJAPS), and the educational journal, Schools: Studies in Education.
This award of $1000 will be presented every two years to a person, school, or other institution that is working to further interdisciplinary psychoanalytically informed work with pre-K-12 educators and schools. Work may be based in pre-K-12 schools, professional development centers and/or Colleges of Education. The recipient(s) of this award will be invited to present at an APsaA semi-annual meeting.
Applicants are invited to describe in writing how their work is aligned with all of the following criteria:
The work is psychoanalytically informed;
The work includes psychoanalysts and educators working together and learning from one another to further the effective education of pre-K-12 children;
The work includes ongoing systematic learning, research or program planning (be it ethnographic, case studies and/or experimental, and collaborative in nature).
Applicants must submit an application describing their work for selection by the award committee to be constituted by members of the APsaA Liaison to Schools Committee.
Besides the cash award, recipient(s) will have the opportunity to have their paper reviewed for publication in the International Journal of Applied Psychoanalytic Studies (IJAPS). No paper submitted for consideration for this award, should have been previously published or be under consideration for publication elsewhere.
