In this article, I will explore the psychopathology of certain mothers and their role and contribution to incest. I will refer to theoretical developments regarding incest and its devastating consequences. Clinical vignettes will be used to illustrate and show how the child, like Myrrha, is not only abused but can also be left holding the intolerable guilt and responsibility.
