Dr. Hitschmann cites a number of cases to show that spermatorrhoea is often occasioned by psychogenic sexual abstinence and is associated with
an impairment of sexual potency and with latent or manifest homosexuality of a feminine type, based upon a bisexual constitution. He enlarges upon the probable physical causes of this disorder, the chief among them being an actual deficiency of spermatozoa in the seminal fluid; and he places it in a more general class of pathological forms of seminal emission (which he calls 'Incontinentia Spermatica') along with three other pathological forms, viz., diurnal emissions, ejaculatio proecox and unduly frequent nocturnal emissions.
