A child experiences a stunning psychic blow, usually an overwhelming visual experience which has the effect of dazing and bewildering it. This produces the sensation of colours, lights, 'seeing stars', and is accompanied by intense emotional states. An erotized aggression is aroused. Headaches develop in association to situations that connect with the original trauma. The child develops a halo which he may throw away or endow upon someone else. Such people over-evaluate their love objects. Two detailed case histories are given to illustrate the points made.
