The term projection is discussed and new subdivisions are described. Extrajection is designated as the converse of intrajection which is the transformation of a part of the ego into an object representation and which had been included under the general term of projection. The object representation which emerges will be called the extraject. True projection is a falsification of the external world, e.g. an hallucination. Objectivation is when a subject finds actual traits of an extraject in a real object.
When an 'intraject' is extrajected it shall be called re-extrajection. These terms are discussed in detail and material is offered to demonstrate their clinical usefulness.
