I have in previous Prefaces to Mrs. Klein's writings expressed my estimation of her scientific work, which, therefore, need not be repeated here. The present occasion, however, is a more personal one. We are united in our birthday wishes to her, but I feel sure that to Mrs. Klein their value is far transcended by another matter for congratulation that can be associated with them.
