The Symposium on this topic which took place at the 17th International Congress in Amsterdam last year, has not been included in this issue and will, by mutual agreement, be published in November 1952 in Volume 7 of The Psychoanalytic Study of the Child (edited by Anna Freud, Heinz Hartmann, Ernst Kris and Ruth S. Eissler). The Symposium was opened by Drs. Heinz Hartmann and W. Hoffer; Miss Anna Freud opened the Discussion, which was continued by Mrs. Melanie Klein, Drs. Sacha Nacht, W. Clifford M. Scott, Herman Nunberg, H. G. van der Waals, and Jacques Lacan.
