The author aims at showing an ego-mechanism of defiance, against the superego, comparable with the mechanisms of defence against the id.
He illustrates this by a case in which strict superego demands and sexual prohibitions were accompanied by constant sexual excesses and fantasies. These accompaniments he regards as defiance of the superego by the ego, but does not discuss them in terms of break-through of id impulses.
Finally, the usual Freudian structural concepts used throughout the paper are translated into what the author terms primary and secondary ego, and the reader is referred to previous papers on this subject by the same author.
