F. Platter's Laesiones mentis is a classification of psychological disturbances, together with an account of their aetiology and treatment, 75 quarto pages long. This psychiatry is the introduction to Platter's three-volume textbook of Medicine, his Praxis Medica, which was first published in 1602 and appeared for the last time in 1736. Description of this late-humanist psychiatry and its connections to the present day. Particularly noteworthy is the relationship between the physical-metaphysical ideas of Platter and the psychological ideas of our time. Platter's outstanding personality was not free from abnormal traits of character, which until now have appeared incomprehensible. The attempt is made to understand them by considering together the author and his work.
