Frieda Fromm-Reichmann. 'Introduction.'

This is a brief communication consisting of an introduction to the papers abstracted below. The four papers were the outcome of a weekly two-hour medical staff discussion group which met at Chestnut Lodge Sanitorium over a period of nine months. The recorded material of patients provided the basis for discussions in which each member of the group commented on his reactions to the records. The aim of the group was to obtain a clearer idea of the factors facilitating or retarding the analyst's intuitive awareness.
