The author of this book has long been known as an excellent teacher of psycho-analytic psychiatry. This introduction to the psychopathology of the neuroses confirms and enhances this reputation. Some of his colleagues may perhaps object to Dr. Eidelberg's tendency to schematization, and possibly disagree with some of his schemata, but this kind of didactic presentation is helpful to the student who is easily discouraged by the obscurities of psycho-pathology. Apart from its virtues as an introduction, the book contains a great deal that is of interest to the psycho-analyst and psychiatrist.
