Five examples are given showing how the game of draughts can help in the treatment of children. The game enables resistances, transference problems, and aspects of unconscious conflict to be brought into the treatment. The advantage of the game lies in the fact that it is well known to children. It is most appropriate as a game between adult and child which does not require any condescension on the part of the adult.
