Abstract

Grauer discusses three aspects of Federn's ego psychology with the aim of clarifying the frequent misunderstanding of Federn's views. He takes up Federn's theories concerning narcissism, the ego boundaries, and ego libido. He shows how useful

these concepts can be in the explanation of pathological states involving ego breakdown.
