We have tried to examine the basic features of the analytic relationship and to trace the reverberations and potentially immutable complications that these fundamental procedures may have in the intra-therapeutic and extra-therapeutic life of the analysand. We have suggested alertness to these reality aspects of the analytic procedure with frank examination of them as one means of detecting and mitigating them.
